BEATON: The MC was the place to be in Provo
It was the spectacle of NCAA basketball at its very best at the Marriott Center Wednesday night when the No. 9 BYU men's team took on No. 4 San Diego State. By now, everybody who cares knows what the stakes were and how the game turned out. I'd just like to share a little bit of the atmosphere of the place for those who weren't fortunate enough to be there in person. I was concerned about the availability of parking, so I arrived a full 2 ½ hours before game time. It turned out my anxiety was justified; even then, the lot I usually park in was more than two-thirds full. The reason why was immediately obvious; there were already thousands of people behind the still-locked doors waiting to get in, creating a line which coiled around the east end of the arena like a snake at rest. |
